Windows 10 New 08 Apr 2016 #1. Want to upgrade Samsung Netbook N220 to Windows 10 I want to try upgrading my Samsung Netbook N220 to Windows 10, if I can. It seems to meet the requirements, except for the graphics driver which is an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150.

  • I tried to do some hard drive maintenance with Spinrite and it gave me a message that my BIOS had a rare defect that would make running Spinrite fatal (to the drive) and that I should try updating the BIOS. I am running BIOS 01KY. So, I went looking and found several BIOS upgrade files. One is 01KG and another is 08JI. So I downloaded them and ran them.

Both give the same result. They run for a while doing File Extraction and then Preparing BIOS Update and then I get a dialog box reporting:

The BIOS/MICOM model to be updated is different.

    Check the program.

Current Model (BIOS Part Number): 150P(0F4) Splinter cell conviction mods.

New Model (BIOS Part Number) : 0

It leaves behind a Log file that reads:

    DeleteDirectoryFile : DebugLog.txt is Deleted
    *** Old Bios Info ***
    Bios Part Number : 0F4
    Bios Model Number : 150P
    Bios Part Version : 01KY
    Bios command : C:UsersPSWAppDataLocalTemp__Samsung_UpdateSWinFlash bios.wph /P

I find some similar, not identical, issues in other Forum entries but no real solutions. One guy had a process where he was able to access the expanded files and modify them but the trick does not seem to work for me. Tes5edit could not open registry key.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can upgrade my BIOS?

pwright2 – Welcome to the forum

Maybe they are older versions of the bios you are trying?
The current version here is 1.0.0.2 which may be suitable for your machine depending on model number. Enter your model number into the search box to find the correct one.

    Hope this helps

    Several weeks later…
I went to the Samsung website myself a minute or two ago, to download a BIOS update…

Samsung state that your Newer BIOS – should have the same two final letters as your CURRENT BIOS

    e.g. using 01LX newer update should be 02LX (or 06LX whatever)…

there are MANY models of the 150+ and you NEED the correct BIOS for your own Model…

for instance, my NP-N150+ JA03UK will not run correctly, if I accidentally load drivers for my NP-N150 JP0LUK…

May I suggest you go to…

and in the TOP search, enter the MODEL number YOU have in the format NP-N150+ JA03UK

you should end up with a 4 to 5 page list of NP150+ Models… i.e. JA03FR, JA03SE etc., etc., you need to read through, looking for YOUR exact model, then, click on the blue link and then you will find the correct drivers/software/firmware…

    hope this was helpful
